The Star Made Me Buy It

 My first ad with Carole Lombard!!

'Daintiness' was a major female goal back in the day.

The ad is from 1940, and mentions Carole's latest effort, They Knew What They Wanted

I can't think of a more unappealing movie title.  Why would I care if they knew what they wanted, if I don't even know who 'They' are?  And what if what it is they wanted is of zero interest to me?

However, I guess it's worth seeing, if only for Charles Laughton, who was great in absolutely EVERY movie he was in.

Bag o' the Day

Few things are more appealing than Victorian advertising images.

Which brings us to today's Bag o' the Day:

Featuring a maahvelous old ad for Hood's Tooth Powder.

Hood's was famous for its liver pills.  I wonder what else they came out with.

You can find the bag here:  https://www.zazzle.com/1884_hood_s_tooth_powder_trade_card_crossbody_bag-256842509491553200

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Something fun and Canadian (!) and countrified that I heard on the radio when I was traveling through the wilds of Sussex County, NJ on Saturday:

'The Ketchup Song' - Stompin' Tom Connors

April's Second Haul of Antiques and Untiques

                          bunfest!!  SOLD

fantastic in plastic

There's gonna be a real Bunfest in Philly in May, i.e. something where there will be bunny-themed EVERYTHING, plus some real live bunnies from bunny rescues.

I'll never forget seeing a woman cuddling this UNBELIEVABLY cute brownish bunny outside the pet supply booth in Booth's Corner Farm Market.  Bun was wearing a little red t-shirt, which ramped the adorableness numbers up to the stratosphere. So cute it didn't even look real.

Etsy PROTEST!!!

I'm always about protesting injustice and such.

Recently, Etsy told us all that the company is going to make great new inroads into success for all, and public recognition, and such and so forth, and by the way your fees will be going up 30%. Oh, Etsy's fourth quarter earnings beat expectations.  Ain't that wonderful, kids??

So the Full-Service Bohemian will be putting her Etsy stores on vacation starting tomorrow, and reopening on 4/19.

 If you're an Etsy seller, I encourage you to consider joining this protest.

April's First Haul of Antiques and Untiques

 Some epic neato stuff, and more in the pipeline!  And in my car.

Really.  Went to an auction a week ago, and there's exactly enough room in my car for me, the stuff I haven't yet taken out, and a few air molecules.

Anyway, let's go:

one of the neato-est bags I've ever found

The zig-zag bag!!

========================================================================

Next something SUPER cute:

in jigsaw puzzle form!   SOLD

i.e. six bird puzzles, eight pieces per puzzle

Note that the white backgrounds do not stick to the puzzles.

  They're there to keep the pieces from getting lost or scrambled with others of the puzzles.

The blurry spots that appear on a few of the puzzles aren't actually ON the puzzles.

They're  just a trick of my camera.

==========================================================================

Bascal anodized aluminum is in the house!

in dessert bowl form.

===========================================================================

suh'm BEAUTIFUL

in silent butler form!

===========================================================================

Some MORE beautiful-ness!!

I've seen MANY floral silverplate trays over the years,

but this is the only one I've seen with a variety of flowers.

made around 1940 - or perhaps earlier - by Weidlich Brothers.

=====================================================================

That's it for today.  Soooooo much more coming!
