The Tuesday Song of the Week

Suh'm kinda unique,

i.e. most - but alas, not all, of a fun 1936 Merrie Melodies cartoon, 'I Love to Singa'

'I Love to Singa' - Owl Jolson

Somebody on Facebook posted the whole eight minute cartoon, but try as I might, I simply couldn't figure out how to download it.

Here's the link to it: www.facebook.com/watch/?v=389917491844434

November 2023's third haul of antiques and untiques

Got some fantabulous items last week from a lady who's in 'getting rid of' mode.  You'll see all soon, but until then we got...

Mary and her little lamb

This isn't one of those contemporary thin-ish metal renderings of Victorian this and that, which is mostly used for jewelry.  It's actually rather solid, and there's some black residue on the back from where it was once affixed.  Wish I knew what kind of item that was.

BTW, this looks wayyyyy better in person.

======================================================================

a lovely dress for Autumn

direct from the 1980s to you.

It's a 1980s size 8, which translates approximately to a contemporary size 2

===================================================================

Rewinding about 60 years...

I've found tons of old advertising tins over the years, but this is the first one with a paper label.

 ======================================================================

one of the cutest cat figurines EVER

So small, but sooo much personality.

======================================================================

Lastly, but zillions miles from leastly, we have...

          The Partridge Family!   SOLD

in lunchbox form AND with its original thermos!

A Partridge Family-related memory:

In third grade there was a kid in my class named Cos Semosky (I think it was Semosky.  Might have been something similar.)

Cos had horrible asthma, which made him an easy target for the class bullies.

I was not one of them.

His gratitude was such that one morning in class he sang, 'I Think I Love You' to me.

======================================================================

That's it.  That's all.

At least for today.

Until next time, see more, get more here:

The Tuesday Song of the Week

This song always brings me back to my three months in the UK a hundred years ago, when I was in a program at the University of Exeter.

I would often go out walking alone at night.

And sometimes in the daytime,

and at least once in the pouring rain.  Mainly horizontal pouring rain, for extra added discomfort.

Enjoy.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

I first heard it during my three months in the UK, which was about 110 years ago.

Enjoy.

November 2023's Second Haul of Antiques and Untiques

Even more fabulous stuff !!

BTW, lemme tell you a story.

Back in the day, I lived in an apartment in a house that had been broken up into three apartments.  I was on the second floor, the landlord was on the first floor.

Around this time of year, he would visit my apartment, and rummage through my antiques and untiques for items he'd give as Christmas gifts for his nears and dears.  Each and every one of them would be THRILLED with what he gave them, which is why he would appear on my doorstep at this time every year.

People really do appreciate getting neato and unique vintage and antique items, rather than mass-produced junk from China.   You just need to know what they're into.

Now on to what you came for:

 1950s Hazel Atlas Indian mugs

From the Golden Age of Cowboys and Indians.  (True fact: at least a hundred Western series appeared on US television during the 1950s).

The mugs are just Indians.  No cowboys.

Note that what looks like paint loss at the top of the mugs is actually just glare from my camera.

=======================================================================

something angelic for your wall

======================================================================

Back to the 1930s...
