earworm

I don't even know where I first heard this,

or even if I did hear it, and my brain is just entertaining itself,

but I think I remember hearing somebody - maybe with a southern accent or some other accent singing 'Jingle Bells,' as...

...'Jinga Bez.'

As in 'Jinga bez, jinga bez, jingle all the way...'

And so for the last week, I've been singing 'Jinga bez, jinga bez,' when I'm alone at home or in the car.

Suh'm kinda cool

This was titled 'US Navy presidential ceremonial honor guard at Norway'

This was a drill team (I think) competition among NATO countries, and the US - home of Busby Berkeley - won handily.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

A few months ago, my hubs and I met another couple at an afternoon oldies party, at a community center in a teensy burg in Cumberland County.

The DJ had a screen which showed videos related to the songs he was playing.

Including the one below.

I TOTALLY forgot about this song.

1960s sunshine rock at its sunshiny-est:
'Will You Be Staying After Sunday' - Peppermint Rainbow

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is Ann Sothern:

I always kind of liked her.  I think she would have been fun to have lunch with some time.

My vintage advertising ashtray collection

Got FOUR more additions this week, all found in the same place.  Which is cool.
If this is your first time here, know that are tons more posts featuring my collection.  Which is also cool.

Durant's Fine Foods in Phoenix, AZ
 Still in business!

========================================================================

The Bavarian, late of Tacoma, WA
No longer in business.

Back in the day, at least in the Philly area, there were quite a number of German restaurants, but there are only two left that I'm aware of: Hop Angel Brauhaus (which I worked at when it was the Old Brauhaus -- oh, the stories I could tell --)
and the Austrian Village, which is less than a half mile away.

Go to the Austrian Village on Saturday evenings for the oom pa band and polka-ing, which is a LOT of fun.
========================================================================

The Jolly Fisherman Restaurant in Norwalk, CT
 No longer in business.

There is a Jolly Fisherman Restaurant in Roslyn, NY

==========================================================================

The Plymouth House  on Sunset Blvd. in LA
No longer in business.

Here's a VERY cool image of what it looked like:
