The Star Made Me Buy It

Unlike last week's star, this week's star is another songstress who is somewhat well-remembered, mainly because she made a number of popular movies back in the 1930s.

Jeanette MacDonald for RCA Victor Red-Seal Records

There's a Goodwill Outlet I visit now and then.  They always seem to have plenty of old records, mostly classical music, or music by forgotten singers and bands.  Lots of these appear on RCA Victor Red-Seal.

The classical ones are almost always in mint condition, and therefore end up in my husband's collection.  He currently has at least 250 albums of classical music.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Today's TSotW contains words to live by.

'Tain't What You Do (It's How You Do It) - Jimmie Lunceford and His Orchestra

vocal by Trummy Young.

Bag o' the Day

Today's BotD features cats in hats.

Real cats, real hats.

And captioned 'We won't be home till Morning.'

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Something fun and fab from the early 1980s.

'Just Can't Get Enough' - Depeche Mode

Bag o' the Day

I remember someone telling me that what your favorite color is can actually change, depending on your mood.

Today, yellow and green seem very appealing. Even more so - at least for today - than my very favorite color, which is aqua blue.  But also sometimes, bright green.

Which anyway, brings us to the BotD, which today is printed with yellow and slightly orangey gaillardia flowers, and green leaves, against a pail yellow background.

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star must have been HUGELY popular back in the day, because I have numerous ads in which she appeared.

Although today, she's almost totally forgotten.

Ginny Simms for General Electric FM radio

This ad is from the early 1950s.  FM radio had been around since the 1930s, but it wasn't until the 1950s that it appeared in most markets.  However, it didn't really take over the airwaves until the 1970s.

June's Haul of Antiques and Untiques

LOTSA must haves and such.

adorable Lefton bunny rabbits

When I was a kid we had these, and my mom would put them out next to a bowl filled with fake 'Easter grass' and ceramic Easter eggs.  I still have the eggs somewhere.
