The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is Sonja Henie for Chesterfield cigarettes.

We've had her here before, in an ad for Ayds aka 'Ayds Reducing Plan Candy.'

Weight loss.  Cigarettes.  There's a connection there somewhere.

The ad, from 1945, mentions her upcoming movie entitled It's a Pleasure.

She made only two films after this one.

A number of her ice skating titles are still not been exceeded.

March's Second Haul of Antiques and Untiques

We be having more 'primitives,' (as previously mention that refers to items that might be found on a farm a hundred years ago).

Wanna see?

cat cookie cutter  SOLD

At least, I think it's a cat

horse cookie cutter  SOLD

The short tail was in style in 1909.

Pig cookie cutter SOLD

I heart pigs.

=====================================================================

Something equally beeeYOOtiful, to wit a late 19th century jacquard coverlet in floral design SOLD

 Something for the country decor, rustic decor, shabby chic decor

All three are missing their lids, but they would make maaavelous planters!

====================================================================

Lastly, but miles from leastly, we have antique advertising ice picks  ALL SOLD

The Tuesday Song of the Week

 I've been singing the refrain of this song to myself for about a month now.

'Money Is a Problem' - Dean Martin and Jules Munshin

March's cool ties - retro ties - vintage ties

Some mega awesome awesomeness for the necktie-wearing public.

Wanna see?

 If I didn't know better I would have assumed this was a Leonard of Paris tie

======================================================================

beautiful and bird-ey

====================================================================

We be having George Sanders!

This is a very forgotten movie - it might even be in the public domain - but it's very worth seeing, not just for George Sanders doing his scoundrel thing, but also Florence Bates as a goofy Polynesian woman.

=======================================================================

beauty in cocker spaniel form

=======================================================================

handsome and horse-ey

======================================================================

peacock!

I could have said 'beautiful peacock,' but that would be redundant.

Mug of the Month

 As near as I can tell, the month of March is about two things: March Madness and St. Patrick's Day.

This is not about either actually, but sorta is, if you can follow that in any way.

So, the mug...

Shamrock = Irish = St. Patrick's Day.  But also a neato print of an old timey orange crate label.

Get it here:   https://www.zazzle.com/1930s_fruit_crate_label_shamrock_navel_oranges_coffee_mug-168962547127529751

Bag o' the Day

Today's bag is something colorful and Persian*

*The print comes from a 19th century German book full of color plates of designs and motifs from an astonishing array of countries and cultures.  Two plates are entitled 'Persien,' which is German for Persia.

The bag is available here: https://www.zazzle.com/circa_1890_persian_motifs_print_crossbody_bag-256881237425907000

tin pudding mold

tin colander  SOLD
