latest additions to my advertising ashtray collection

I'm the VERY lucky recipient of a whole box of advertising ashtrays from businesses that once existed in Vineland, NJ.

Wanna see?

Initially, I thought this was related to a public radio station once based in Vineland.  But generally, as least as far as I know, televisions, washers, and refrigerators are not available from public radio stations.  Alas, couldn't find info about this place on the 'net.

Winslow's Pharmacy

Back in the day, Landis Avenue was a thriving shopping district.  Not so much today, alas.  There are a handful of worthwhile businesses, including a lovely theatre, and a somewhat neato antiques shop, but most of the others are what you see in slums, i.e. nail salons, Chinese takeout, day care centers.

A view of the inside of the pharmacy, found on the 'net:

I would love to see the "bouncing" ash tray for myself some day.

It's nice when your favorite cold cuts store appreciates you.

Note that the above are just a fraction of what is in the box.

MANY more coming!

Bag o' the Day

If you live in New Jersey, you oughta be scrambling to find bags NOW, because starting in the beginning of May, you're going to need some.  They be getting rid of single use plastic bags.

Which brings us to today's very useful, and all-together fun and marvelous tote bag:

 Depicting a head.  Of lettuce.

We have TONS more bags printed with old time fruit and vegetable crate labels.

Go here for the above:  https://www.zazzle.com/crew_cut_vegetable_crate_label_crossbody_bag-256770065632647401

Tickets, Please

Today's old ticket comes from Addam's Family Values.

Yeah, I know it says Addam's Family, but that's only because that's what would fit on the ticket.

I loved the original - mainly because I love me some Raul Julia, and Angelica Huston is always fun to watch.

The sequel not so much.  It was relentlessly PC, and homie simply don't play that.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

I thought the title of this song was 'How Far Is Heaven,' but when I looked that up, I got a lachrymose tune by Kitty Wells, about a little girl whose daddy died, and so is asking 'How far is heaven?'

The actual title is...

'Heaven' - Los Lonely Boys

We'll have another song entltled 'Heaven' next week.

Bag o' the Day

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is June Havoc for Ansco color camera film.

She might be remembered as the inspiration for 'Dainty June,' in the musical Gypsy, which was based on the story of her sister Louise, later famous as Gypsy Rose Lee.

Beyond that, I think she's probably thoroughly forgotten, although she must have been somewhat popular in her day, because this is one of two or three ads I have featuring her.

We be having...

notebooks!

There are few things that appeal to me as much as a fresh new notebook.

All our notebooks are spiral bound and hardcover, for extra added strength and awesomeness.

Plus the print on the front cover also appears on the back cover, usually in mirror image.  Which is cool.

If the image has words, letters or numbers on it, it still appears on both sides.  Just not mirror image.  For obvious reasons.

Mug of the Month

I admit to being a sucker for old children's book illustrations,

especially the ones with dressed animals.

And even more so if the dressed animals are also musicians.

Which brings us to our February 2022 Mug of the Month:

Big goat playing a drum.  Little goat playing a flute.

Could anything possibly more appealing than this????

Hardly.

keywords for your interest and edification: goat lover gift, goat lover mug, cute goats mug
