Bag o' the Day

For when you're in a New York state of mind:

I'm selling the Brooklyn Bridge
...in wristlet form!!

Two exciting things to know:

1) the bag is made in the USA, in Kansas City, Missouri to be specific

and

2) the print is on both sides of the bag, in mirror image, which is kinda cool.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

This is soooo cool, and sooooo Sixties.

My older brothers watched the show that the following was the theme song for, but all I remember about the show, because I was only about age 4, was the opening credits, part of which has the lead's face coming out of water he was thrown into by a bad guy.

I also vividly remember the opening of the show Branded, where Chuck Conners gets all the medals pulled from his army uniform.  But I remember bupkis about the show itself.

Now on to what you came for:

Bag 'o the Day

Now this is something really cool.

(And, as all my bags, made in USA.)

Awhile back, I bought a bunch of 19th century prints featuring all kinds of 18th century and earlier imagery.  And in a tiny section of one from the 16th century - a VERY elaborate print - was found the print on this courier/messenger/laptop bag:

Bag 'o the Day

Awhile back I started a 'Bag of the Week,' but obviously -- if you're one of my followers, it's obvious -- that I didn't keep up with it.

I'm a very busy girl.

Nevertheless, I have come up with an even BETTER idea.

Better because there are currently over TWO THOUSAND bags in my store, with that number growing all the time.  So if I show you just one a week, you'll never get to see all of them.

And that would be a shame.

So amma gonna do this:

Three bags a week.  Marvelous bags.  Beautiful bags.  Neato bags.  Cool bags.

Each and every one Made in the USA.

Which is awesome.

Here's today's bag, and it's a BEAUTY.

I might have even shown you this before, but something this awesome deserves another look.   And another.  And another.

The PERFECT gift for the fan of the New Age, or the cosmos, or dreamy butterfly girls tripping the light fantastic amidst the stars and the moon.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Today's Tuesday Song of the Week sounds EXACTLY like the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and some doo wop group all got together to write and perform a song.

The Star Made Me Buy It.

BIG star today,

and unlike our other ads,

not a star you find very often doing ads.

Bette Davis for Lustre-Creme Shampoo
I like most of her movies, with the exception of All About Eve, which is soooo talky.

The title should have been Talking (and Talking and Talking) All About Eve

Fostoria

In my over 25+ years of antiquing and untiquing, it's taken me almost this long to land some Fostoria glass.

Mainly a) because it's not easy to find, and

          b) because on the very rare instances when you do find it, it's priced up to the high
               heavens.

Soooo, you can imagine...

my astonishment at finding a BUNCH of Fostoria.

AND all in the very popular, and sooooo cool and attractive American clear pattern.

PLUS
because I got my bunch at a very good price, you - yes, YOU -- can get some marvelous made in USA back in the day Fostoria glass not priced to the high heavens, but quite affordably.

Which is nice.

Here's what we got:

a pitcher.
For iced tea and lemonade and margaritas and such and such    SOLD

    FOUR goblets   SOLD

and a tray with handle
Perfect for holding petit fours, or cocktail napkins for the margaritas mentioned above.
SOLD

We interrupt this blog

Peeps, it's time to pony up a buck or twenty for Wikipedia.

Where else can you learn more the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, AND learn about what a theremin is AND find out who did the voice of Paw on The Hillbilly Bears ??

And the above is only about .00000000043% of what is on the site.

Go here to donate:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

classy baroque and/or Hollywood regency ...

table ware !!

Each and ALL of it Made in USA.

A caveat: these items look sooo much better in person than they do in my photos thereof.

July's cool ties! vintage ties! retro ties!

As always, some pretty awesome awesomeness in necktie-al form:

Let's dance!
 =======================================================================
For Black Jack gum, with that 'good old licorice flavor!'

Some PhD candidate ought to write a paper on the one-time ubiquity of red-headed freckled boys in advertising.
=============================================================================

blue nun
It's a wine AND a necktie
Blue Nun is now in pretty blue bottles.  One thing I've always liked to do - although I'm not much of a drinker - is to go to liquor stores just to look at the bottles.  Love looking at the different labels and bottle designs.
============================================================================

for the cat man and/or the guy who appreciates a VERY cool and unusual print.

 =======================================================================

King Kamehameha is in the house!
AND on a tie!!
It's my understanding that nobody wears neckties in Hawaii.  However, that shouldn't stop you from standing out, and reminding the world that once Hawaii was run by Hawaiian royalty.  And that black and white renderings of statues of same are SOOO cool.
