The Tuesday Song of the Week

Suh'm kinda fun and Gallic and that:
'Boum' - Charles Trenet

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is William Bendix.

William Bendix for Chesterfield cigarettes

Back in the day, there was a lot of work for actors who could convincingly play working-class shlubs.  Bendix was one.  Others that match this description were Ernest Borgnine,  Lionel Stander, and George Tobias.  I could probably come up with several more if I tried.

The only thing I remember seeing William Bendix in was some movie about him being a criminal or something similar, and then he becomes a monk in some religious order that has a rule of silence. Wish I remembered the title.

face it

We be having...

FACE MASKS !!!!

Yesssssssss !!!!!

Wanna see?

Bag o' the Day

I've been very fortunate within the last year or two to come upon a TON of early 1900s-1920s sheet music.

They made GREAT covers back then.

Which brings us to today's Bag o' the Day:

'How Do You Do Miss Josephine' from 1909
In tote bag form !!

You can find this bag here:

much more puzzling

Or rather

Puzzlepalooza,

seeings as I'm selling jigsaw puzzles all day long these days.

The likely reason?

People are bored being stuck at home.

They're bored with one another.

They're bored with TV, and reading, and taking the same walk they took every day for the last three weeks.

Therefore, jigsaw puzzles.

Here's some:
Franzenburg Castle

1891 Edouard Bisson 'The Fiancee'
 =======================================================================

Persepolis
 =======================================================================

sad hippo and friends
 =====================================================================

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Today only part of a song.

And the song is not really what we're going for here.

Just something really lovely and sweet:

Playing Beethoven for Romsai the elephant

The Star Made Me Buy It

June Allyson for Max Factor Pan-Cake Make-Up
This would have been 1950.

One of my favorite movies is the 1949 version of Little Women.  Peter Lawford was soooo cute, and I do love me some Rossano Brazzi.  Plus Leon Ames was not without appeal.

Bag o' the Day

It may be a worrisome time,

but worry gets you nowhere.

No. Where.

Which brings us to today's Bag o' the Day:

An old apple crate label for Don't Worry Northwest Apples
The takeaway should be clear:

Don't worry.

Eat apples.

Check out this neat tote bag.  (The print of which is NOT blurry-ish as you see here.)

Here's were you can see the bag:

So today I noticed some photos missing from my blog.

Photos that there there yesterday.

And the day before.

and the day before.

but now they're missing.

And I tried to put them back, but - poof! - they disappeared again.

The powers that be at Blogger claim to be working on this.

So don't worry, The Full-Service Bohemian isn't going anywhere.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Haven't heard this song in... what? 30 years?... until I heard it again this week.

Great example of old timey sunshine pop.

'Beautiful Sunday' - Daniel Boone

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is really forgotten.

But if he's remembered at all, it's as Mary Pickford's last husband.

Buddy Rogers for Camel cigarettes
Not to be confused with Buddy Rogers the wrestler.

He's known on IMDB as Charles (Buddy) Rogers.

Even more puzzling

It's blowing my mind how suddenly I'm selling gazillions of jigsaw puzzles.

I can only attribute it to how people are stuck home now with little to do other than look for lint on their clothes.

If you find yourself in a similarly bored state, and think perhaps it would be better to spend time putting a puzzle together, I have what you need.

In my experience, putting a jigsaw puzzle together is so zen.  When the hands are busy, the mind is free to think, and wonder and that.  Even more so if you have something neat and old on the turntable.

So here's more jigsaw puzzles available in my Zazzle shop:

Brunhilde Weeps at Siegfried's Funeral Pyre
Something neato for the fan of Wagnerian opera.
 ======================================================================

If it's his job to bring in the newspaper, why can't he also read the newspaper?
======================================================================

glam 1940s woman on her way to Palm Beach.  Or Malibu.
=======================================================================

Meanwhile, Billy the Kid is laying out his life's philosophy
=====================================================================

and now for our most challenging puzzle,
but still not as hard as the one from my last puzzling post

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Just because you're stuck home doesn't mean you can't have a good day.

'It's a Good Day' - Peggy Lee

Puzzling

Over the last two weeks, most of what's selling from my Zazzle store have been jigsaw puzzles.

I guess people stuck home are running out of shows they want to watch, and they've already read every book in the house.

What's next but to do jigsaw puzzles?

I actually LOVE to put a jigsaw puzzle together.  It's when I do some of my best thinking.

Here are just six of the over 1,800 (YES, over one thousand eight hundred!!)  jigsaw puzzles in my shop, which range in size from a little over a hundred pieces to a little over 1,000 pieces:
A neat illustration from a 1930s Buck Rogers 'big little book'
 =======================================================================

The late lamented Frazer line of automobiles.
in jigsaw puzzle form
 =======================================================================

adorable kittens !!
adorable kittens wearing clothes !!!
 =======================================================================

Battle of Gettysburg sheet music
 I should dig it up - it's around here somewhere - and ask my hubbage to play it on the piano.
=============================================================================

One of the many many fruit crate/vegetable crate labels in my shop
Colorful, no?
=============================================================================

You want a real challenging puzzle?

We got one for you.
