'Cover of the Rolling Stone' - Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show
Back when this song came out, the line about '$10,000 a show,' was a heck of a lot of money when the song came out, in 1972. That translates to over $72,000 today.
There was a Taylor Swift concert in Philly a few months back, with tickets going as high as $9,000. I wouldn't pay 10 cents to see her.
Even if there was a concert by History's Greatest Rock Band - ELO - that came to town, I wouldn't pay $9,000. That's the equivalent of about fifteen car payments.
Some people have way too much money.
