The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is the very attractive Ruth Roman for Chesterfield Cigarettes...

Her latest movie is mentioned as Barricade - (note that in 99% of these star ads, the name of their movie or show de jour is always part of the ad) - which came out a year before Strangers on a Train, which was the only thing I ever saw her in.  Until recently.  The hubbage and I have been watching old Cannon* episodes, and a couple weeks ago we saw one she was in.  She would have been a little over 50, but still looked maaaavelous.  .  

The ad also includes pro golfer Ben Hogan.  Wonder why he didn't deserve a full ad of his own.  

*Back to Cannon.  When the show came out he seemed soooo fat, but today, pretty much every guy the age of the character could double for Frank Cannon. 

I saw him a week or two ago in The Killers, which came out in 1946.  William Conrad would have been around age 25. I've seen him in other stuff from that era. He was actually kind of cute, I think.
