January 2025's First Haul of Antiques and Untiques

Some VERY marvelous marvels that I've found over the last several months.

Wanna see?

OK, this is a pretty horrible photo of some VERY beautiful dishes. (I will try to fix this)

Here's what one dish looks like:

                                         (this isn't a great photo either.  I'll try again.)

The pattern is Johnson Brothers Autumn Delight.

Note that these look SOOOOO much better in person.

Another delight, from 1875...

                                                   A lovely Victorian wall sconce !

                                                  Which can hold a nice fat candle.

                           This is what the underside of the candle-holding part looks like.

Moving on to the 1920s...

                                                            A luxury hotel bellman

                                                                    in bottle form !!!

The bottle opens when you remove his hat.

=======================================================================

                                       barkcloth leaves print sewing bag !

                                                         or handbag !!

======================================================================

                                                         black Scottie dog door stopper

VERY unique because he's made from compo*, with VERY heavy insides, probably metal.

What we antiques dealers call 'compo' is short for 'composition,' which is a combination of wood pulp, glue, and one or two more ingredients.  A more common term for it is Syroco wood.

======================================================================

                                                      brown bulldog door stopper

Made from the exact same materials as the Scottie dog above.

Thus ends today's collection.
