latest advertising ashtrays

These aren't the latest I've found, they're just the latest I've photographed.  A couple of them have been hanging around for awhile.

Club Harlem
First up, Atlantic City's famous Club Harlem, which offered a 'Complete Sepia Floor Show.'

Ace Employment Services
Next, Philadelphia's Ace Employment Service, where members of the sepia floor show would go when their showbiz careers were behind them.
=====================================================================

Thunderbird Motel
From Wildwood, NJ's Thunderbird Inn.  Back in the day, this was considered a fancy place to stay on vacation, at least among Philly rowhouse denizens.

Yuengling Beer
Around 2005 (or was it 2006?) I was considering leaving the City of Bothersome Love to move upstate, mainly because my nextdoor neighbor was driving me insane.

One of the properties I looked at - a historic mansion dealie with tons and tons of space and only costing $60K or so --was right near the Yuengling brewery.

the Pets.com dog

Here he is!

Pets.com was an early dot com company that sadly crashed and burned in a space of only two years.  But our friend shown above keeps the memory alive.

New vintage ties

and/or vintage neckties.

Here's your Gregorian chance to get a tie with a print of
Gregorian chant music.  I think.

This one has a patent number dating it to...
1950!!

This one is berry attractive.

Our bowties must be wrangled out of the hands of geeks and reactionaries.  Will you wear one and support the cause?

1970s photo-print tie of Indian relics and stuff.
Has the original plastic thingie it was hung from at the store!

It's a legali-tie!

The world's ONLY non-embarrassing Christmas them tie.

What a doll !

Here's a very sweet little person I found this past weekend.

She is not marked anywhere except on the sole of her shoes, which are marked 'Fairyland Toy Prod.'  I'm guessing, though, that they made the shoes and not the whole doll.

Maybe you have an idea who made her?

the Tuesday Song of the Week

This week a GREAT swing song from 1945, which contains the first recorded use of the word 'groovy' (I think).
'Conversation While Dancing' - Johnny Mercer and Jo Stafford

I have this burned to CD, and I always sing Jo Stafford's part.

German pink pigs

enjoying some music.

I'm game AGAIN

This super OMG totally cool fabric

Is the identical of the fabric shown in my October 9, 2011 post, except the background color for that one has a green background.

Doesn't that amaze?
