Today's star is a late 1940s ad, with famed chanteuse the Incomparable Hildegarde, for Cannon Hosiery...
 

Two or three years ago, an auction I attend regularly had a TON of stuff related to Hildegarde (real name Hildegarde Loretta Sell), from either a collector, or maybe the estate of her publicist.  

There's lotsa her appearances on YouTube.

Yep, even on Christmas we at Full-Service Bohemian headquarters are still working.

Not only is this gloriously Eighties, it's also a large size.  Even though the label claims this is a size 8, the measurements are more in line with a size 18 or so.  Also in FLAWLESS condition.

The Star Made Me Buy It

 Today's star is Betty Hutton for Bell & Howell...

The ad mentions her latest movie, Here Come the Waves. from 1944. 

To say she had a sad life is a gross understatement.  She had a very sad upbringing, and an interview with Phil Donahue late in her life is just heartbreaking.  In between she was in great demand in the 1940s and early '50s, appearing mainly in musicals, and light comedies

19th century fraternal pin

There were literally hundreds of fraternal organizations in the 19th century.  Which one this came from, I have zero idea.  There's also a remote possibility this came from one of the Naval academies of the era (but probably not THE Naval Academy).  An even more remote possibility is that it has some connection to one of the yacht clubs that existed then.

In any case, it would look very cool on your lapel.
