The Tuesday Song of the Week

 This is a beautiful song, and VERY timely...

'Don't Let It Die' - Hurricane Smith

Tickets, please

If you mentioned to me a movie called China Moon, I'd say I never heard of it.

Even though I must have seen it, since I have the stub that proves I saw it:

One of the dozens of movies I'd see per year back in the day.

I used to go at least a couple times a month, with this friend, or maybe that friend.

The theatre I saw this in, Ritz at the Bourse, closed in January 2020.

Some time in the 80s, or maybe it was the late 1970s, the Bourse became sort of a smallish mall.  I bought a lot of clothes there, but all I remember was an olive green jumper.

Today, I'm pretty sure it's now just an office building.

June's Second Haul of Antiques and Untiques

I haven't been spending as much time on my Etsy shop as I have on my Zazzle store,  therefore the treasures have been piling up in a BIG way,

many selling before I even have a chance to post them here.

On to what you came for:

 trim it !

That's 36 yards of embroidered cotton trim, found in the dusty rafters of one of the old shops in Philadelphia's Fabric Row.

A landmark day !!

As of yesterday, I have 25,000 (that's twenty-five THOUSAND) items in my Zazzle store.

Have a look-see at this,

and also at that:

 some stuff from my Accessories department...

buttons!

There are currently over 600 pinback buttons in my shop.

See more here:  www.zazzle.com/store/the_olden_eye/buttons+pins

We also have items for men, like ties...

We have over 700 ties.

and like cufflinks

We have over 70 pairs of cufflinks.

The remainder of the over 4,000 items in the Accessories category are made up of tote bags, passport holders, checkbook covers, wallets, scarves, and watches.

See it all here: www.zazzle.com/store/the_olden_eye/accessories

=====================================================================

next up we have wall decor...

in tapestry form.  My shop currently has over 400 tapestries

in clock form.  My shop currently has over 600 clocks.

The rest of the wall decor category is over 800 posters and canvas prints.

See all 1800+ items here:

 www.zazzle.com/store/the_olden_eye/art

========================================================================

A few items found in my kitchen decor department

a tablecloth

and an apron

The rest of what's in the kitchen department are trays, drinkware, kitchen towels, cotton napkins, and refrigerator magnets.  Lotsa magnets.

It all totals up to over 3000 items.

See more here:  www.zazzle.com/store/the_olden_eye/kitchen+gifts

=======================================================================

Let's move on to the bath and beauty department

we have sets of towels

Plus we have individual large bath towels, and also vanity mirrors.

My other Zazzle shop - ShowerPower - has shower curtains and bath mats that match a lot of these towels.

 For a look-see of what's there, go here: www.zazzle.com/store/showerpower/products

Note that what's in ShowerPower does not account for my 25,000 items.  If you count what's there and add it to my main shop, i.e. The_Olden Eye, I would have totaled 25,000 a couple weeks ago.

=======================================================================

 Let's see some things from my Office Stuff department...

to wit: notebooks

99.9% of my spiral bound notebooks are hardback notebooks.  The soft-cover kind just plain don't interest me, mainly because they fall apart so easily.

The other notebooks are Moleskine notebooks.  Which, frankly, I LOVE.

Other items in the office department are mouse pads, business card cases, and or two other marvelous items.

There are over 900 items in the Office department.

See them all here:   www.zazzle.com/store/the_olden_eye/office+gifts

=======================================================================

I could show you lots more stuff from lots more departments - puzzles, other home decor departments, crafts & party supplies, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

However, I haven't had lunch yet.  Nor did I have breakfast, but I never eat breakfast. (I even hate the word 'breakfast.'  Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, while at the same time skeeving me.)

But enough about moi.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

 I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS...

                                   'Sometimes I'm Alone' - The Kiffness x Lonely Cat

Check out The Kiffness on YouTube - he's got lots more of this stuff.

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star is largely forgotten - and she wasn't a 'star' star - but rather a writer.

But during her heyday, EVERYBODY knew who she was, i.e. an early 19th century version of Danielle Steele, with Jackie Collins tendencies.

Elinor Glyn for Lux

Found in a 1931 copy of Pictorial Review.

Note that the cute gal in blue is not Elinor.  Rather she's the profile in the circle between 'Elinor' and 'Glyn'

At first I thought she was that girl, but then learned that Ms Glyn was born in 1864.

Even the most well-preserved woman in her 60s couldn't look that young.

Some of my Lux ads are for Lux soap, and a couple for Lux detergent.

This is one of the detergent ones.

Bag o' the Day

Something fun from the huhYOOGE collection of old fruit crate labels in my possession:

1930s bowler hat.

Fun fact: During my three months in the UK - which was a hundred or so years ago - I was in London, and saw a gent about ten yards away who was walking to work, wearing a beautiful Bond Street suit, and a bowler hat.

I took a picture of him, which, alas, I can't find.  But the moment I do, you'll see it here.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

Today's Tuesday Song of the Week...

Well, I just haven't been able to find anything that appeals to me.

So, rather than a song, we got this, i.e. Jack Benny, who's always fun to watch, plus Humphrey Bogart.  This is the only time he appears on one of these shows, and it's quite a hoot:

Note: the Lucky Strike thing: Lucky Strike cigarettes sponsored The Jack Benny Show. Bogart's description of the ciggies comes from the Lucky Strike commercials of the time.

The Star Made Me Buy It

 Today's star is Yvette Mimieux, in a 1960 ad for Lux Soap...

I've seen her in only two movies: Light in the Piazza, which I like because I love seeing old movies set on location in Europe, and in Toys in the Attic, which is a FANTASTIC movie.  Her role in that is very small, but she's well-cast in it.
