The Tuesday Song of the Week

It's Diva Time, y'all...

'History Repeating' - The Propellerheads with Shirley Bassey

Goodwill is GREEDY

Yes.

True.

I occasionally buy things for my biz (Zazzle biz) on ShopGoodwill.com.

Mostly ephemera and old books and magazines and like that.

Many Goodwill stores (each store that puts items on ShopGoodwill has its own policies) will grossly overestimate the shipping charge.

They want money, they need money.

I get that.

But there's a limit.

For example, I was interested in bidding on a circa 1918 magazine sold by a Goodwill store in North Carolina.

The handling fee - i.e. the fee to get an envelope and put the magazine in the envelope - is $3.00.  I don't mind paying a buck, or even two bucks, but $3 is simply unacceptable.

And the 'Shipping Weight' is 2 pounds, while the 'Actual Weight' is 1 pound.

Therefore, it's going to cost over ELEVEN DOLLARS to ship a magazine from North Carolina to my house in NJ.

Goodwill is a charity, but a) everything they sell is donated, and b) charging $11+ when $8.00 would be reasonable - for a charity -- is just plain taking advantage.

Plus, they're actually shooting themselves in the foot.

For every bracelet for which the shipping charge is $8.00 (for a bracelet!) and every book for which the shipping charge is $10 -- when USPS Media Mail would be no more than $3 - they lose out on bids that they would get if they would forgo having their shipping charges double as a profit center.

As my husband would say, this burns my pickle.

tickets please

I have zero recollection of this movie.

Full title is One False Move.

And yet the stub is proof that I did see it.

October pillow talk

True fact: There are currently 696 pillows in my store, each and every one a marvel of marvelousness.

Newest examples as follows:
HOW
CUTE
IS
THIS?????
 Exceptionally so, I'd say.
============================================================
GET THIS NOW NOW NOW!
Before the World Series (or is it the World's Series?) is over !!!
The above is a from a vinegar valentine, one of several in my collection.  The title is, as you can see, 'Baseball Bug.  And it goes like this:

Of all the pests I've ever known,
You are the worst of all,
You eat and sleep and talk and think,
Entirely base-ball.
============================================================================
Something super-perfect for the country decor !!
Note that my store has oodles more merchandise bearing these 19th century farm animal images.  All come from a book from the early 1890s that I found in a box lot at an auction I attended some years ago
 =======================================================================
Speaking of box lot finds...
A natty young gent dressed as a high class swell or maybe a magician.
==================================================================
From an 1895 issue of The Delineator

 ======================================================================
The dog and the flowers come from two different Victorian trade cards.
 I think they look super-neat together.
=============================================================================
Did I show you this before?
Dunno.
Anyway, this image is a marriage as well; the border comes from... well, I forget exactly, but it's definitely something in my very extensive collection.

What's your wallet ?

True fact: Money does not like riding around in a boring wallet.

Money prefers a unique and cool wallet, ideally of vegan material.  That enables it to breathe, to enjoy the ride and, ultimately, to multiply.

We got LOTS of what you need to make your money happy.

 To wit, just a few of the nearly 300 --yep, 300 -- different wallets in my store:
