Vintage ties Roy G. Biv edition

As we learned in elementary school art class, Roy G. Biv stands for the colors of the rainbow spectrum, i.e.  red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Here's the reds.
early 19th century high classedness in tie form

I LOVE this one.
LOVE.  IT.

pressing buttons
Eons ago, I spent 3 years doing temp work at various places.  My favorite gig was in an office where the entire job consisted of putting numbers in a computer.
(I love doing monkey work.)
I enjoyed it so much that although I had been booked to work for a week, I finished up what they hired me to do in three days, which made the client very happy.
  The temp agency, not so much.

And now, orange:
I know you saw this one before, but it's worth a second look,
no?

Princeton, Class of 1954 reunion

Who doesn't love cocker spaniels?

Yellow!
Yes, this one does have orange in it, but yellow ties are hard to find,
so please indulge me.

And what's here is not classic yellow, but close enough.
Yellow ties are hard to find, I tells ya.

I think you also saw this one before but a) it's worth another look, definitely,
and b) yellow ties are real hard to find.

 Green!
My favorite shade of green.

Pale, yes, but it IS green.
Green ties sell out very quickly.

LOVE this one.

blue!
I'm not going to do indigo, because sadly I don't really know the difference between
plain vanilla blue and indigo.
And even if I did, I don't know how many indigo ties I have.

Now THAT is an exceptional print.

If you didn't live through the Bicentennial,
then you just plain didn't live.

We had a tiny ship in a tiny bottle (my hubs loves that kind of stuff),
but one of the cats knocked it over.

Violet!
 Violet (which I keep typing as 'violent.' Paging Dr. Freud.)
 is even harder to find than yellow.
This one is REALLY attractive, but my camera didn't like it.

I think you saw this one already, but you're seeing it again.

Bernard Hill is in the house.

the Tuesday Song of the Week

Sometimes when I'm driving I roll down the window and blast this, knowing right well that now and then the world needs to hear some over the top Italian music.
Zingara - Bobby Solo

I've loved this song for years, but it's only today that I was able to find a translation of the lyric:

Take this hand,
Gypsy
Tell me that fate will have?
Speak of my love,
I'm not afraid

I know
Now that
Does not belong to me.

Look into my eyes,
Gypsy
See the gold of her hair.
Tell me if returns
Part of my love,
You have to say
This
It's your turn.

But if and 'written
I lose?,
Like hot cakes
We shall break?
One love.

Take this hand,
Gypsy

latest ashtrays from my collection

Feeling flush a month or so ago, I bought two lots of old ashtrays online.

Here's what I got:
My first one from Tijuana for Cerveza Mexacali Beer!
====================================================================

This one's a bit of a disappointment.
Was there really a Franklin Restaurant and was it really The Home of Good Food
Or - as the bottom of the ashtray implies, just a sample from an ashtray maker.
=======================================================================

Still in business !!
==========================================================================

Another sample, another disappointment.

My French is not great, but it would seem Mme. Laura's specialty is coupons for liver.
========================================================================

Visit The Music Box, and then hightail it for the Frontier Tap and Bar.

Make sure you say 'Hi!' to Dutch and Alice.
======================================================================

Slim Jims putatively make your next drink taste better.
As long as that next drink isn't milk, orange juice or espresso.
==========================================================================

Here's a knee-slapper in comedy Pennsylvania German.
translated as 'The groundhog lodge on the Lehigh, founded 1933.'
Here's a Wikipedia thing about this stuff:

If farmers like it, so should you.
Still in business !

A hotel, the restaurant of which I used to work in, opened up a water park in the back, and rather than calling it what it is - a WATER PARK - they call it a 'resort.'

Now THIS is ashtray advertising at its finest.

Who's a pretty bird?

 I've found dozens of McCoy everything over the years, but last week was the very first time I'd ever seen this extra neat planter.

Enjoy.

You cannot call yourself a vintage tie collector
if you don't have at least one old Towncraft tie.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The bowtie must be wrested from the hands of geeks and reactionaries.

This design means something.
What that something is, I don't know.
