I think there were three of them.  I also think I took all three out of the library when I was a tot.

Bag o' the Day

The image on today's bag is the cover of a 1915 song sheet, an anti-war song entitled 'I Didn't Raise My Boy to Be a Solder,' captioned at the top "A Mother's Plea for Peace."

This came out a year after one of history's bloodiest wars began.  In the next few years, a number of war-related songs would come out, some anti-war, others about the jolly fun of making friends with a French gal, or killing Germans.  There were others from a child's point of view, i.e. 'when is Daddy coming home.'  Some of the more maudlin of that genre were about a Daddy who was never coming home.  

 Anyway, it's never too late -- or too early - to be anti-war:
