suh'm odd

Most likely found in an arcade circa 1935 or so:

I wonder if this actually happened to the poor jamoke who got this card.

Bag of the Week

A MARVELOUS messenger bag,

with a MARVELOUS print from a 1920s ad for stockings, showing a lovely gal, somewhat scantily dressed gal, on the moon, where she's apparently considering how marvelous her legs look in their new hosiery.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

This one resonates with me currently, because I have a modest dream of my computer getting sound again.

My 2010 Lenovo done died dead, and I'm on a second hand reconditioned or re-whatevered Lenovo I bought offa eBay.

It doesn't work that great, and when I first started using it, it did have sound, but now it don't.

So anyway...

Shopgoodwill shipping outrage

I've decided to make this a regular part of the blog, i.e. the outrageous prices quoted for shipping at www.shopgoodwill.com.  Goodwill as in the thrift store chain.  Individual  Goodwill stores list their stuff on shopgoodwill.com.  Although some Goodwill stores do not.

And some that do list their stuff on shopgoodwill.com have shipping charges of a flat $2 or $4.95 or $whatever.  There are also those that charge a penny for shipping.  Those are the ones who got smart, and realized that cheap shipping means higher bids on their items.

Today's outrage:

For an antique shoe catalog that appears to have 50 or fewer pages, here would be the shipping cost to my zip code:

Went to see this by myself.

Odd that I went to the later showing.  Can't imagine what I was doing earlier in the evening.

Kind of a brilliant flick, but with lots of icky grossness.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover
Neat how the ticket dissolves the title to its essence.
