Bag of the Week

Time for a lovely wristlet, Victorian fashion print

to wit...

The print comes from an 1880s women's magazine in my possession.

You like?

Well, guess what, the same image is also on the back of the wristlet, in mirror image.

Which is cool.

The bag, which was made in the USA (YES!!!) can be had here:

The Tuesday Song of the Week

This was a big hit when I spent a few months in the UK a hundred years ago.

'Let Me Go' - Heaven 17

Bag of the Week

This one, I think, has universal appeal.

Those ginormous tulips are soooo neato.  And - just like all the other bags in my store - this one's made in USA.  Which is nice.

Get it here:

See zillions more bags, wallets, passport holders AND checkbook holders (whoo hoo!) here:

Tickets, please

Haven't posted any since last April,

and yet I still have more stubs from movies I saw.

This time it's...
The Tall Guy
I saw this movie only for Jeff Goldblum, who I fell in love with at first sight, when at age 15 or so, I saw a commercial for Ten Speed and Brown Shoe, and my mouth dropped open.

"WHO IS THAT??"

I have a thing for members of the tribe.  Racial memory, I think, since I'm 1/4 Jewish.

Anyway, even though Jeff Goldblum was in it, I did not like The Tall Guy.  Emma Whatshername got on my nerves. (She always seems like she's winking at the camera, like 'Aren't I GREAT?!?)   And even if the love interest had been someone who didn't get on my nerves, this was one of the more awful romcoms it's been my misfortune to spend good money on.

Aunt Jenny

Aunt Jenny was the ur-folksy face of Spry Baking Goo.  Gray-haired, double-chin'd,  and never having met a gerund she didn't drop.

She made an appearance in just about every women's magazine from the late 1930s until the early 1950s, when Crisco finally won the baking goo war.

Bag of the Week

This one is guaranteed to get attention.

PLUS, it will get your creative juices going, in order to explain what's going on in the image.

Tuesday Song of the Week

First Tuesday Song of the Week in about a month, but it was worth waiting for:

'Caravan' - B. Bumble & the Stingers

The Star Made Me Buy It

Of all the star ads I've found in these old magazines in my possession, the star with the most ads is, for no reason I can figure out, Burgess Meredith.

Here he is for Aqua Velva:
Do they still sell Aqua Velva?

Bag of the Week

This is one of my favorites.

And one which I hand-colored.  It came out real nice, I think.

The print was entitled 'The Parting Wreath,' inspired I think by the Victorian poem of that title.
