room.
From the early 1970s, the Era of Owls and Mushrooms
Back in the day, you could find mushroom EVERYTHING.
Lamps, wall decor, jewelry, mushroom prints on linens, etc. etc. etc.
True fact: until three or four years ago, I'd never eaten a mushroom.

The Lady's Letter Writer: Letter XX
Letter XX
More Serious
(this is another version of last week's letter - After a Misunderstanding)
July 23rd, 18--
Dear Sir:-- This attempt you make to excuse your conduct is neither straightforward nor satisfactory. It is, in fact, only exculplating yourself by admitting a fault as great as the one of which I complain (here state particulars). Under these circumstances, whatever pain it may cause me, I must avow my determination never, under any consideration, to admit of your addresses, feeling persuaded that the consequences would not be favorable to the happiness of either.
I remain, sir,
Your obedient servant,

the Tuesday Song of the Week
You're getting what you got last year, i.e. the two most beautiful Christmas songs, both of which are SO beautiful that they make me cry.
"The Holy and the Ivy' -King's College, Cambridge choir
The next one was hard to find, at least one that had the original tune, and not just people making up their own tune (Frank Sinatra) or no tune to speak of (Casting Crowns).
'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day' - St. Peter's Choir'

April 21, 18--
Dear....:-- Your kind letter satisfies me, and I now regret that, in the anxiety of my affection for you, I should have given way to anything resembling a doubt. You allow that appearances were a little against you, and that I had some reason for complaint. Let no more be said on this subject, but hasten to the company of

Kingston, July 14, 18--
Dear Sir:-- I have just perused the flattering letter with which you have favored me. Of late, whilst enjoying the pleasure of your company, I have not failed to observe your behavior towards myself has been more than ordinarily attentive; and that on one occasion you have rendered yourself of essential service to my interests. Such conduct has not failed in attaining my favor and friendship, but has not had the effect of inspiring a deeper passion -- a passion I have totally renounced, whether on account of the advance of years (as the case may be), or of attachment to the memory of my late husband, it is immaterial of me to state. Had I allowed myself to suppose that the attentions to which I have just alluded were prompted by any other feeling but that of simple friendship, I should certainly have endeavored to repress them. Hence you may infer that, while I decline the honor of addresses, I still remain, with best wishes for your future welfare.
Dear Sir,
Your sincere friend,
