The Tuesday Song of the Week

A friend sent me the local rock station's 1975 Top 100.

Surprisingly - at least to me - our TSOTW was not on the list.

Here it is:

December 2025's Second Haul of Antlques and Untiques

I'm typing this on my brand new HP laptop computer.

Which I hate.

For years now I've been using a Lenovo T430, but my cats kept walking on the keyboard, and their nails would pull up the keys.  Plus there's another issue, to wit, any text gets blocked, as if you're cutting and pasting.  Which I could describe this more clearly, but it's a total pain.

But that old Lenovo is worlds better than this HP.  The only thing the HP has that is better, is the fact that its screen is huge.

Thus and therefore, amma get a new keyboard for the Lenovo, and have this HP, which I hate, become my emergency backup computer.

Anyway, on to what you came for:

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today's star became waayyy more than a star:

                                                      Ronald Reagan for Chesterfield
The movie mentioned here - see above his right shoulder -  was Hong Kong , which dates the ad to 1952.

I believe that he had been defeated by Jimmy Carter, things would be a LOT different -- and probably waayyy better -- in this country today.

The Star Made Me Buy It

Today marks our second TSMMBI with George Burns and Gracie Allen, this time shilling for Spam:

Without Gracie, I think George Burns would be one of those forgotten comedians from the vaudeville era.  Think Frank Fay, Joe Penner, the Ritz Brothers, etc. etc. etc.

The Tuesday Song of the Week

I've been watching Ms. Fisher's Modern Mysteries (google it!).

It takes place in the early 1960s.  Even if you're not interested in shows where some genius investigator solves mysteries, it's worth it just to see the clothes.

Which are a) 100% faithful to the period - as are the make-up and hair styles- and b) are just plain fabulous.

On the second episode, one of the main characters, a young Italian lady named Violetta Fellini - sings our TSOTW.

I wish I could have found the clip from the show - also fabulous - but came up empty.

So here's an earlier version of the song.
